Blurry Type Effect
Step
1
First, create a new movie & name your first layer "text". Create
some type like I have done below. Choose Insert -> Convert to Symbol &
give it a name.

Step
2
Next, we want to duplicate this type on another layer so, select the first
frame and right-click. Choose "copy frames" from the list (you can
also use CTRL+ALT+C with the frame selected). Create a new layer named "blurry
type" and select the first frame in it. Right-click again and choose
"paste frames" or use CTRL+ALT+V. Now, convert this to a symbol
(Insert ->Convert to Symbol) and give it a different name.
Step
3
Now, we want to take our blurry type layer and create a new keyframe at frame
15. So, select frame 15 and press F6. Now, while in frame 15 select the type
graphic and choose Modify -> Transform -> Scale. Stretch the type out
like I have done below and deselect.

Step
4
With frame 15 still selected choose Modify -> Instance or CTRL+I. Go to
the "Color Effect" tab and choose "Alpha" from the dropdown
list. Set the Alpha to 0% and click ok. Your type should have disappeared
now.
Step
5
Now move to frame 1 while still on the "blurry type" layer. Right-click
and choose Create Motion Tween from the list. Now our blurred type is set.
Step
6
Next, with frame 1 still selected, hold down the shift key & select frame
15. Now with all the frames selected, drag them to the right until the first
frame is now in frame 15 and your old frame 15 is now at frame 29. Make sense?
Here is what your setup should look like at this point:

Step
7
Now, we can duplicate this layer to create an echo effect. Select from frame
15-29 again, and copy the frames (CTRL+ALT+C). Now create a new layer named
"echo 1" and select frame 23. Paste the frames (CTRL+ALT+V) and
you have created the echo. If Flash creates extra frames you can simply select
them and hit SHIFT+F5 to delete them.

Step
8
Finally, go to the "text" layer and select frame 15. Press F6 to
create a new Keyframe and you are done. Your type now echos.
Step
9 (optional)
If you want to add impact to your animation, simply select frame 1 of the
"text layer" and right-click. Select Create Motion Tween. Now with
frame 1 still active, select the type graphic and go to Modify -> Transform
-> Scale and grab the corner to stretch it to the size you want. Now when
the animation plays, it will look like the text is falling, and when it hits
bottom you get the echo effect. Check
it out!
